1. Thames Valley’s shell,
fabricated by Graham Reeves Narrow Boats, was
brought by lorry to Boot Wharf on the Coventry
Canal and is craned into the water. |
2. On the cut – notice how high
in the water the empty shell sits. |

3. Picture taken from the back of
Thames Valley (58 ft) being towed to her future
home at Springwood Haven by Colne Valley (70
ft). That makes a total of 128 feet of narrow
boat, one engine and one rudder! |
4. Almost home – coming under
bridge 27, our own Wood Bridge, to be greeted by
the boat building team. |

5. The interior of the empty
shell. Those windows could be a bit draughty! |
6. Yes, the floor of your hire
boat IS filled with concrete slabs. This is the
ballast that ensures Thames sits at the right
height and level in the water. (A bit of weight
lifting required by Steve, Richard and David.)

7. The wooden floor covers 6
inches of insulation adding comfort and warmth. |
8. The wood working continues
with the addition of bulkheads and batons. We
always fit bulkheads and batons prior to the
spray foam insulation, as we believe that this
ensures superior strength. |

10. “Where’s the pump out cap,
Steve?” |
